LA GATA JAPONESA
THE COMPANY
La Gata Japonesa
was founded in 2017 in Madrid. The company is made up of circus artists Elena Vives and Diego García, clown and dancer Laura Miralbés, clown Hugo Miró, and pianist Ander Yarza.
In 2018, they premiered their first show, Lumières Foraines, under the direction of Leandre Ribera. Three years later, in 2021, they presented the solo piece Los Viajes de Bowa, starring Elena Vives and directed by Lucas Escobedo. In 2025, Diego García premiered his individual show Voa!, also directed by Leandre Ribera and with outside direction by Sergio López. One year later, in 2026, the company presented a new creation, La Trastienda, under the direction of Sergio López.
La Gata Japonesa’s shows combine circus, magic, music, acrobatics, dance, and humor, always with a refined and poetic staging.

Festival in Gijón, Elena Vives received the award for Best Circus Performer for her participation in Creatura, by Lapso and Malabart companies.
